That Darn Comma: AI-Assisted Book Writing, Mistakes, and Lessons
I have been thinking about writing a book about how to write a book for a while.
My life has been nonfiction for years now.
Today and tomorrow I am wrapping up loose ends from my books Techno-fuedalism and Nouveau Economics.
My book 108 The Story of Discovering Earth’s Consciousness is all me.
I wrote Can and Will Do for ten years, and a couple of passages were enhanced by AI.
From then on, I have had the same method for writing these nonfiction books with some exceptions.
For the most part, my sociological nonfiction books are AI-assisted. A lot of the time, I have other material about the subject that I originally wrote that is used to give a formulation of my argument, perspective, and substance.
I basically write it or have a lot of notes
Claude and I come up with an outline
Then I refine the outline
Then I take it chapter by chapter. I give further context for rewrites. I edit. I write some details.
I read every word to make sure everything makes sense, flows, and is cross-referenced correctly
To be honest, if you just give AI a couple of sentences about making a nonfiction book will either be generic or it won’t make sense because it will hallucinate the details, plot, or content.
I am a true sociologist; all of the overall narrative was discovered, formulated, and comes from me; it is just refined through AI.
I came to the realization today that when these next two books come out, I will have created a knowledge stack about America and society in general. That I have a lot to be proud of. And that if I did nothing else in life, I could die knowing I fulfilled my purpose and helped.
Honestly, this is a lifetime of work, and it took months instead of years because AI gives context and makes a strong argument if you use the tool correctly.
I mainly use AI to present the writing professionally and give accurate historical and scientific context while deepening my argument
I was adopted by a whole online community after creating a theory about a machine and being a targeted individual in the 2010s.
Write an anthology and walk away… why? Because of America!
I’ve had to make whole concepts that garnered attention before, and I walked away.
I know what it’s like to write, put your heart and soul into something, and then leave it.
But this knowledge stack
Can and Will Do. Farming Humans. The American Nightmare Project, Dark Racism, Techno-feudalism and Nouveau Economics.
I. Will. Never. Walk. Away. From. This.
You can take the dog out of the fight. But you will never take the fight out of the dog.
One thing you have to learn to survive on your own is to be exacting. If you mess up, it could put you in very serious danger or cost you your life.
This is probably why I think I have the proficiency I have with my music. I am going to tell you all the mistakes I can think of, but remember, this is over ten books and 250 tracks.
Some contextual mistakes are:
I thought a masocist was a sadist, which is evident in my early Apollo work (MVP)
I thought Warren Buffett pays his taxes. In reality, he just asks to have the government make earners like him pay more in taxes while exploiting the tax code to the fullest, paying one of the lowest tax rates.. Which is contrary to what I said in “global warming” from the “global warning” album.
Some music and book grammar mistakes are:
I say “air” in farming humans when it’s really supposed to be “eirs,” but the “s” got cut off.
Same thing with Dementia Don. An “s” gets cut off on one of the words.
In “Hit me with the download,” when I say “dumb,” the b sounds like a t. I didn’t notice this until after the studio session.
There is a “philosophy” word in Can and Will Do that is missing an “o”
The point here is, I know where my mistakes are. And I make so few of them that it stands out in my mind when I know I do it or find them in the finished product
You don't get 250 tracks and ten books by mauling over content for days, let alone weeks. My philosophy is honestly, “done is better than perfect.” So the rule is really that I get one minor imperfection or I move on. Meaning if there is one minor mistake in the whole song or book and I have a final copy, I don’t correct it. I leave it and move on. And the imperfections I just mentioned are examples of that rule.
Then, after I had just gotten done uploading The Myth of the Sun to Amazon, I noticed the comma. If you look at the cover of The Myth of the Sun, there is a comma that is not supposed to be there.
I decided to leave it since it was the only imperfection. And I considered it minor because not only did I miss it, but so did the editor I paid to prep the cover. I honestly don’t know what happened or how I missed it, but it was there.
Although “A Rose” hadn’t dropped yet, it was done and delivered to DSPs. In it I say the lyrics:
“I don’t barter with the gods
I tell them indifferent
“You can’t bridge the gap
Because you’re inferior entities”"
Gaia told me that she made me miss the comma on The Myth of the Sun cover for saying that the Gods were inferior entities on “A rose.” I told her if she had materialized success for me by now, I wouldn’t have said it.
In all honesty, this is how we fight.
When this happened, and I noticed, and after she told me about her amnesia trick, I asked her if she wanted me to re-upload the book to change the comma, and she said: “keep it.”
It’s months later, and it still bothers me. I should have changed it, but I told Gaia I would get back at her by using it as a teaching moment to “own your mistakes.” Hence this post.
For sure, she’s not really mad at me. Let me give you the real perspective.
From usury to racism, to a firsthand account of poverty, to societal structure and new economics; I have identified and solved your major problems with society, America. Just because you're not paying attention doesn't mean I'm wrong or not trying to tell you what's up. For the most part, no thanks to you, America, with the exception and a debt of gratitude to that shining beacon known as Social Security.
I have become the sociologist you denied me legitimacy to be, and I have become a respected artist regardless of your financial burdens, culminating at a small but meaningful level of achieving my dream of writing nonfiction and popularizing it in music.
So when I tell you you're a piece of shit, know I’m doing you a favor. Not only am I making you recognize reality and humbling yourself, but my honest rhetoric is more pointedly damning than my angst-filled retorts could ever formulate in people’s minds.
I think I'm going to talk about ecological justice and interspecies community and stewardship next.
In any real terms, I have had my way with you, America. I've fixed your problems, and I can't care about that for you. So it's on to the next crisis.
Like I used to tell hip-hop when I was broke and had nothing on the road.
You’re welcome!
But that darn comma though…
